Hybrid Super Zoom
The zoom lens included in the Lumix DMC-FZ100 is a Leica DC Vario-Elmarit design of the highest quality. It covers the equivalent of 25-600mm, a massive 24x optical zoom range. The 25mm equivalent focal length covers double the shooting area of standard 35mm-type wideangle lenses. This full zoom range can be used for still image or movie capture As well as this, the Extra Optical Zoom feature (which uses the central portion of the image sensor) will extend the still image zoom range to a massive 50.6x at approx 3 megapixel resolution.
Full HD Recording
Records movies in full 1920x1080 HD quality using AVCHD compression to give very high quality footage. Sound is also first rate thanks to the Dolby Digital Stereo Creator recording system. In movie mode you can control aperture and shutter speeds for more creative control or use the Intelligent Auto mode to let the camera make the choices. If you are looking to capture extra fast action to play in slow motion, then in QVGA mode you can record at up to an incredible 220 frames per second. The included HDMI port allows for viewing on an HD TV and Viera Link allows your Viera TV remote to control playback.
14.1 Megapixel MOS Sensor
Capturing exquisite levels of detail, the 14.1 megapixel MOS sensor is extra sensitive and benefits from ultra fast operation. This enables action photo sequences to be captured at up to 11 frames per second at full resolution, or up to 60 frames per second at approximately 3.5 megapixel resolution. Intelligent Resolution Technology identifies detailed, textured and smooth image areas and effectively extends the zoom range to 32x without any loss of image pixel count.
Intelligent Auto with Motion Deblur
The Intelligent Auto function combines these technologies: Intelligent ISO Control, Face Detection AF/AE, Face Recognition, Intelligent Scene Selector, Intelligent Exposure and AF Tracking.
These functions all combine to allow the camera to decide the appropriate settings for the best shot in the situation.
Motion Deblur combines Intelligent ISO Control and Intelligent Exposure to minimise the risk of hand shake. When this is used with the POWER OIS image stabilisation, then blurred images are made almost impossible.
