The lens mechanism is retractable for portability and the focusing motor is STM (Stepping Motor) design, quiet and ideal for movie recording. In addition the smooth aperture adjustment is also tailored for movie recording as well as still photography. Lastly a power focus feature allows manual focusing from the camera body.
