Description
The Nikon-1 range is Nikon’s long-awaited entry into the world of Compact System cameras. They have opted for an approach that suits the creatively minded photographer who shoots in both still and movie formats. To this end they have included Full HD movie recording. The V1 variant also includes a very high resolution electronic viewfinder and a strong body design with magnesium alloy-reinforced parts.

High Resolution Viewfinder
For an extra clear view of your images even in the brightest sunlight, Nikon have included a 1440k-dot electronic viewfinder with 100% frame coverage. To put this into context the viewfinder resolution is as clear as early megapixel digital cameras at full resolution. An auto LCD screen power-off. Function detects when you raise the camera to your eye and the LCD monitor itself is a 3.0” (7.5cm), 920k-dot design with a wide viewing angle and protective glass.
Extra Sensitive CMOS
The CMOS image sensor inside the V1 is extra sensitive and allows extended ISO coverage of 100-6400 for excellent performance in low light. This model also allows shooting in RAW format and has a dust reduction system for keeping your sensor clean.
Ultra Fast 60fps Shooting
The EXPEED 3 image processing system uses dual processor technology and can process image data at an incredible rate of 600 megapixels per second!. Astounding frame rates are possible of up to 60frames per second at full resolution using a single AF point or up to 10fps with Adaptive AF.
Dual Autofocus Systems
The AF mode can instantly switch between 73-point Phase Detection AF and 135-point Contrast AF so both movies and stills always stay in sharp focus.
Motion Snapshot and Smart Photo Selector
Motion Snapshot is a one-touch Photo Animation feature recording short bursts of movie action of a couple of seconds. In other words, it’s a photo that’s animated. Smart Photo Selector uses pre- and post-capture technology for a 20-shot sequence and picks the best 5 image, based on composition, focus and facial expressions. You can then choose which ones you’d prefer to keep or discard.
Full HD movies
Record full high definition movies at 60 frames/sec or 30fps (60i, 60p and 30p formats) and make use of the superior Phase Detection AF system for more consistent focusing.
Specially designed lens system
Newly developed for this range, Nikon 1 lenses are extra compact and incorporate VR II (Vibration Reduction) technology for images without shake. Of course they represent fine examples of Nikkor optical quality known the world over. You can also attach Nikon SLR lenses using a separately available FT1 adapter. AF-S and AF-I lenses preserve AF functionality.
