Description
The Nikon Coolpix P7700 is a fast, responsive creative camera with a large extra-sensitive CMOS chip and fine optics. There are auto, custom and manual controls plus the ability to record in RAW format.
Bright, Sharp 7.1x Lens
The 7.1x Nikkor zoom lens on the Coolpix P7700 has a wide f/2.0 – f/4.0 maximum aperture ideal for low light and soft focus backgrounds. The 28-200mm equivalent focal length covers just about every eventuality in normal shooting and it includes two ED elements for low chromatic aberration (ie reduced colour distortion). As well as this there is a Neutral Density filter built-in for allowing longer exposures and a 7-blade rounded aperture which gives a pleasing smoothness to out-of-focus areas. This lens features a Lens Shift VR system (Vibration Reduction) which physically corrects camera shake and gives approximately 4 stops more to play with – especially useful at long zoom settings and in dim conditions.
Extra Bright Sensor
The large 12-megapixel CMOS sensor is 1/1.7” in size and is a backlit design which gathers roughly double the amount of light compared with a standard CMOS. This in combination with the EXPEED C2 processor allows ISO sensitivity up to 6400 (equivalent) using Hi1 setting.
Large Rotating Monitor
The 3-inch Vari-angle monitor on the Coolpix P7700 is a detailed 921,000-dot design with a wide viewing angle and anti-reflective coating, ideal for outdoors. It offers 100% RGB colour reproduction with a high contrast ratio so it can even be viewed in bright sunlight.
Creative Options
As well as having straightforward auto modes this is an enthusiasts’ camera with RAW file shooting and manual mode, plus P/S/A modes with three user modes for preferred settings and 2x custom function buttons. You can also adjust the vividness of colour before shooting, even in RAW format.
Full HD Movie Features
The Coolpix P7700 records movies in Full HD 1080p quality with stereo sound and optical zoom. Includes a Custom Movie Mode for controlling ISO, aperture and other settings during recording. There is even an external microphone input for improved or more directional sound quality.
