This compact standard zoom lens offers great image quality coupled with impressive low light performance thanks to its wide f2.8 maximum aperture.
Optical Features
The Sigma 17-70mm DC lens features both ELD (Extra Low Dispersion) and aspherical lens elements to ensure aberrations are minimised and sharp, high contrast images are produced throughout the zoom range.
Great Low Light Performance
This lens, as mentioned previously has a wide maximum aperture of f2.8 at 17mm focal length. This allows more light to pass onto the image sensor, so allowing faster shutter speeds to be used. This also means that the optical image stabiliser doesn't have to work as hard to steady any shake.
Closeup Performance
Features a great 1:2.7 macro magnification ratio thanks to its close 22cm minimum focusing distance. Ideal for taking detailed nature or hobby images.
Super Multi-Layer Coating
Designed especially for digital SLRs, this system helps to eliminate ghosting effects on the image sensor as well as traditional flare problems associated with all lenses.
HSM Focus
The Hyper Sonic Motor focusing system gives fast, quiet and accurate autofocus, plus it’s all internal, allowing hoods and filters to be easily fitted. A Zoom Lock function is included as well which stops the lens barrel slipping under its own weight. Also useful when transporting the lens.
