You're imagining the Tamron AF 28-200mm Super, the completely new version of Tamron's award winning 7.1x superzoom, for Canon EOS. The improved version should suit even more photographers.
The aspherical optical design with Low Dispersion glass gives outstanding performance and the reduction in Minimum Object Distance (M.O.D.) allows you to shoot from just 80 cm at the 200mm setting and from 95 cm at the 28mm position.
The Triple Cam Zoom design and Internal Focusing (IF) contribute to the technology that has allowed such a small lens to be manufactured, while the new Focus Encoder gives improved focusing accuracy and autofocus response speed.
For macro work, a magnification ratio of 1:4.8 is achieved at the 135mm zoom setting, at a distance of 52 cm, removing the need for a close up adaptor. Creative and polarising filter users will appreciate the non-rotating front element, which ensures that filter effects remain in the chosen position.
The lens now has a distance scale, an improved rubber grip and lens cap and has a very high quality finish.
